President Donald Trump reacts to the deadly coronavirus on Monday March 16 l, as he described it as a ‘Chinese virus’.

 

It was reported that, the US President said this after giving an address on Monday afternoon in which he disclosed the country may be headed toward recession and called for social distancing.

 

Tweeting in support of industries affected by the coronavirus, Donald Trump wrote;

 

“The United States will be powerfully supporting those industries, like Airlines and others, that are particularly affected by the Chinese Virus. We will be stronger than ever before!”

The tweet has however been condemned by many including the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Robert Redfield, for being ”inaccurate and potentially harmful in promoting racist associations between the virus and those from China.”
